Once again our Heritage Weekend Sunday Heritage Open Day walks coincides with another local heritage initiative, the Bedfordshire Walking Festival, so these walks combine the two. No need to book – just turn up.
We have produced a series of ‘Unguided Walks‘ enabling visitors to the cemetery to follow them at their leisure without an official guide. On our ‘Guided Unguided Walks’ we will be providing unguided walks’ leaflets with a tour guide to accompany the walks. This will enable you to discover more about the people buried here.
All walks are free but a small contribution to the Friends would be appreciated. The walks last approximately 1.5 hours.
Meet at the Chapel 10 mins before the start of the walk.
The Hemlock Morris are a mixed (gender) Morris side based in Bedford and will be performing their highly entertaining dances at the Chapel. The Hemlock Morris look quite different from most people’s perception of Morris dancing – they are more likely to be seen wearing corsets, rag coats and feathers than crisp white shirts and breeches! Not to be missed – come along to the Chapel at 3.00 pm.
Tea and home make cakes will be provided for a small charge.
Please note: The cemetery ground is uneven so please wear appropriate shoes.
When viewing memorials, please do not lean on them.
